Piret Hirv
Piret Hirv creates subtle, melancholy low reliefs in paper-thin silver, gently chased shapes appearing in the surface like ghostly figures in the mist. She describes these ethereal forms as imprints of her visions that do not exist in the real world, traces of something past. Her jewellery is not fettered by concerns about physical wearability, she wants jewellery for your soul.
Piret Hirv is an Estonian jeweller, born in Tallinn in 1969. She was educated at EKA – the Estonian Academy of Arts, where she is now associate professor and head of the jewellery and blacksmithing department. Piret is a member of the Estonian jewellery group õhuLoss (Castle in the Air).
