Karin Johansson
Working with metals, reconstructed stones and acrylics, Karin Johansson creates jewellery that is subtle and elegant, a harmony of colours, tactile textures, lightness and dynamic shapes. A collector of objects and images from daily life, her work is a treasure hunt amongst an ever-growing collection of things and ideas which she fashions into pieces of jewellery made to be worn, questioned or loved.
Karin was born in Värnamo in Sweden in 1964. She studied at HDK – Academy of Design and Crafts, University of Gothenburg, where she also taught until 2019. One of the founders of the jewellery gallery Hnoss in Gothenburg, her work is exhibited internationally and features in several collections, including the Marzee Collection, Nationalmuseum in Stockholm, Röhsska Museum in Gothenburg and the National Museum in Oslo.
