Description
Between 1998 and 2002, Dorothea Prühl’s students at Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design Halle (DE), created and exhibited work at Galerie Marzee in a series of exhibitions under the title Feldversuch, or Field Trial. This book charts the students’ work over the five years of the project and illustrates the ‘ability to distinguish between what is essential and what is superfluous… and the intensity and contemplation, precision and a capacity for critical self-reflection’ that Dorothea instilled in her students.
An innovative and influential teacher since 1966, Dorothea Prühl was appointed professor and director of the jewellery department at Burg Giebichenstein in 1994. She retired in 2002.
With an introduction by Marie-José van den Hout, founder and director of Galerie Marzee, text by Renate Luckner-Bien and biographies to accompany the work of the 17 participating artists, many of whom are today represented by Marzee.
